Acai przeciwko zapaleniu stawów

Acai against arthritis

Proved effect on joint pain

According to the results of a study conducted by American researchers, acai effectively inhibited the activity of enzymes participating in inflammatory processes. The non-steroid anti-inflammatory preparations of acetylsalicylic acid, diclofenac or ibuprophen content, frequently applied against headaches or joint pains and well-known from  commercials, also target these enzyme systems. However, with acai, you can achieve this effect using the power of nature.

Easier movement


A practical study was also conducted, which examined the effect of acai consumption on joint pains
and the resulting limited range of motion. After 12 weeks the participants of the study, who consumed 120 ml of acai per day, experienced reduced pain and easier movement as the range of motion of their knee, shoulder and hip joints increased. The latter could be observed as early as 2 weeks after starting the  consumption of acai. These results are definitely promising as  permanent pain contributes to the limitation of the range of motion of the joints, thus activating further pains and inactivity.

Although it was not significant, one of the laboratory levels (CRP) indicating inflammation also dropped by the end of the study.

Antioxidants against inflammations

These remarkable results can probably be attributed to the outstanding antioxidant contents of acai as several active ingredients of the plant have proved to have anti-inflammatory effects.
According to the researchers, one of its flavonoids, velutin, can decrease the amount of substances that are emitted by the cells and stimulate inflammation. During the studies other flavonoids of proven anti-inflammatory effect were also used and velutin in acai proved to be more effective than those, according to the results.
The anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of ellagic acid have also been proved within laboratory circumstances.

The above examinations show that acai can offer a number of alternatives to treat inflammations and complement anti-inflammatory therapies without further drug side-effects. Don’t miss out on the opportunities offered by nature!
